Iran has no need of nuclear weapons to be dignified: Leader

TEHRAN, Sept. 9 (MNA) -- The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps is a manifestation of national dignity which defends the honor of the Islamic Revolution, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said in a meeting with IRGC commanders on Sunday.

The Leader called the IRGC a divine blessing for the Iranian nation and lauded it for the service it has offered over the past 28 years, especially during the time of the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war.

The essence of the IRGC is military service for God, the Leader noted.

He pointed out that the Iranian nation experienced dark days under the Qajar and Pahlavi dynasties and it was only with the victory of the Islamic Revolution that Iranians attained their true dignity.

Ayatollah Khamenei stated that the late Imam Khomeini was the true manifestation of Iran’s national pride and when the arrogant powers would shiver at the threats of the U.S. and Russia, the Imam said, “The U.S. cannot do a damned thing.”

“Although the Iranian nation possesses no atom bomb, nor has any intention to gain access to the deadly weapon, it is a dignified nation by the testimony of the world because dignity of this nation is rooted in its determination, will, faith, good deed and clear goal,” Ayatollah Khamenei observed.

“The IRGC should maintain its popular nature and pay more attention to Basij (volunteer forces) as its valuable body,” the Leader noted.

The IRGC is monitoring all regional and trans-regional moves and with its great strength will block the way of every covetousness action.
